What is the difference between embroidered and woven patches?

Embroidered patches use thicker thread stitched onto a fabric backing, giving a vintage raised texture. Woven patches use much thinner threads woven together across the whole surface, creating a smooth, flat finish that captures tiny details and small lettering down to 2mm.

What backing option is best for everyday use?

For permanent wear on washable clothing, sew-on or iron-on followed by perimeter stitching is the strongest. For caps, iron-on works great. For tactical jackets and bags, Velcro hook-and-loop is the industry choice.
